American skipper Cole Brauer completed what had to have been an absolutely grueling, painful, lonely, thrilling, life-affirming, inspirational and rewarding journey around the globe. The Long Island sailor spent 130 days at sea, by herself, as part of the Global Solo Challenge. In doing so, she made history, becoming the first American woman to sail solo nonstop around the world. Appropriately, Cole piloted her 40-foot racing yacht "First Light" just after 8 AM local time Thursday in Spanish port city of A'Coruna, completing a round-trip voyage of 30,000 miles. Brauer, 29, was the youngest racer in a field of 16 boats. Several of the other vessels were unable to complete the journey. Along the way Brauer amassed better than 450,000 followers on her Instagram account.
